The
Bridges to Nowhere
Where Do they Lead? Why are They Needed?*
1 Here is where the proposed multi-million dollar overpass bridge will cross the interstate on the west side at North East 18th Street in Ankeny. |
2 Here is where the multi-million dollar overpass bridge will cross the interstate on the east side. Another Dead end. Where is this bridge taking us? |
|
3 Here is the road to nowhere (NE 102nd Avenue). This is your destination on the east side of the multi-million dollar overpass to nowhere. Where is it leading? |
|
4 Further down the road to nowhere we cross an old single lane bridge. This bridge will be replaced. This is the second bridge to nowhere. Where are we going? |
5 We are at the intersection of Frisk and NE 102nd not very far ahead N.E. 102nd turns into a gravel road. What is going on? The road we traveled on is in Polk County and is not in the City limits of Ankeny. |
6 This is a nice bean field I wonder what is so special about this spot? I wonder who owns this land?
|
|
7 It looks like Deer Creek Estates LLC is planning a housing development in our bean field. Surely the City of Ankeny would not spend millions of dollars to run a road and build bridges through and area outside of the city limits for a speculative land venture. Where is the money coming from? |
8 Problem solved. The City of Ankeny can File for ICAAP money through Iowa’s Clean Air Attainment Program. But how could a road with little or no traffic help clean Iowa's air? Isn't that money supposed to help reduce heavily congested traffic areas? Boss Donkey can take care of that. Besides the D.M. Area MPO accepted the application for funding so there shouldn't be a problem. |

9 Old Boss Donkey Now that the road from the west is taken care of what about the east side of Deer Creek Estates. It sure would be nice if that new N.E. Beltway next to Deer Creek Estates was approved. It would also be nice if I could get rid of rural water and get city water out here so I could build lots of houses. How can I get this done? |
